About the Inc. 500/5000:
Introduced in 1982 by Inc. Magazine, the Inc. 500 is a prestigious annual list of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in the United States. The Inc. 5000, introduced in 2007, is an expansion of the original list, ranking the country’s top 5000 fastest-growing private companies and features a special designation of the top 10% of the list as the Inc. 500. The Inc. 500/ 5000 represents the most comprehensive look at a very important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs.

Revenue in the initial year must have been at least $200,000, and revenue in the most recent year must have been at least $2 million. To make the cut for the Inc. 500, companies have to have achieved a minimum of 770% in sales growth.
